Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.

Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

“'In Your Time' is a song about posture. You’ve heard it said, 'Patience is not about waiting, rather, how you wait.' Colten and I wrote this song on a chilly morning in October of 2020. Like most of the world, we were somewhere between coping and quarantine. Like the rest of the church, we wrestled with where we found ourselves as men, as believers, as songwriters, as pastors, as children of God. In a very real sense, we found ourselves coasting. We weren’t waiting very well. In writing this song, Colten received a word from the Lord based out of Ecclesiastes 3:11, 'you make all things beautiful in your time, you make all things beautiful in your design...' We pondered that if God is making beautiful things in His time, what should we be doing with our time? We should be waiting; and we should be waiting well. As we invite Jesus into our wait, He invites us into deeper intimacy. He invites us into closer communion. He invites us into understanding, even though we may not have all the answers; He becomes the answer. We lose track of time when He is worth the wait. The wait turns into a walk in the cool of the day, in the garden. The wait starts to feel like less of a wait, and more of an extended date with The Sovereign Peace, himself, Jesus.

Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 January 31, 1892) was a British Reformed Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers." In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times a week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the New Park Street Chapel in London for 38 years. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him after his death.

Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Arguably, no other author, Christian or otherwise, has more material in print than C.H. Spurgeon.

"At Azusa Now, Todd White prophesied over the crowd; the declarations he made became an ardent request to God for more of His presence. Todd, along with Lindy Contant and The Circuit Riders began to lead the crowd in a cry of, “Holy Spirit, let your fire fall.” The Spirit was in motion at Azusa Now, and I, in my home streaming the event, was a puddle.

For the five years since, I have never stopped returning to that cry. “Holy Spirit, let your fire fall” became a normal place for me to go in worship. I have sung, prayed, and prophesied what Todd and Lindy sang, until it became a new song for me, in its own right.

Last year, I finally sat down with Holy Spirit to write it out and expand upon what I felt like God was doing through the words, then and now. The result is "Let Your Fire Fall." To me, it is a request to God for more of Himself, committing to act in tandem with Holy Spirit, and a declaration of the promise, "as we see Him, we will be like Him. "Writing this song was my way of honoring the monument God set up in my heart through the ministry at Azusa from Todd, Lindy, and the Circuit Riders. (Guys, if you’re reading this, thank you so much for adoring Jesus with reckless abandon; you inspired me to dive further into worship myself).
